Human rights organizations reviewed coup attempt of a group of soldiers and stated that the coup violates the rights and freedoms. They said that the army must be inspected in an absolute way and the lack of inspection will cause a lot of problems for civil society.

Association of Human Rights and Freedoms (HÜR-DER) chairman Şaban Dalgın claim that the coup attempt cannot be approved and the army should not be used to do political design.

‘Coup attempt impact limiting human rights completely, sometimes that also violated in various ways and cause emerging dictatorships’ said HÜR-DER chairman Dalgın,  and added that ‘unfortunately, there was a coup attempt on 15th of July. We are cursing the coup attempt because military coup violated human rights and freedoms and it enslaves the people to design the society the way they want to be. That kind of attempt is behaviour of mindless people who naturally have similar personality with dictators and we have just seen a new coup attempt and the severity of violence that coup carries’ he said.

This community does not need a military which only provide danger and violence.

Turkey does not need a big military, said Dalgın, ‘’yes, Turkey should have a powerful army but technically. They did not carry out this coup attempt because they could not find enough number of soldiers who support them. Army is recruited too many soldiers at quantity level and it is not right things to empower an army. Army is not a tool to use for designing of infernal politic of government. Army must to be opened to civilian inspection and transparent. How is it that thousands of people have organized and people in charge had no idea about it? Maybe they had information about the coup attempt but they could not comprehend the level of violence. This country does not need an army which only provide danger and violence to the community.  Army is a necessity to defend the country for foreign attacks. Lack of inspection and transparency for an army provides only danger and this nature of army should be changed for the benefit of the public’ he stated.

USA extends over a period of time the returning of Gulen and swings the lead

Dalgın evaluated the situation of Fethullah Gülen who have not been returned to Turkey from USA and said that ‘USA wants a document about the relationship of Fethullah Gülen with coup. Now it is clear that the hypocrisy of the method of Fethullah Gulen and USA swings the lead. We know that USA refuelled the planes got involved in the coup. This the way USA extend the return of Gulen over a period of time and swings the lead.’

This coup is not only an attempt against the legitimate government but also against to the society

Human Rights Society chairman Mehmet Karadağ stated that ‘coup attempt made against to the public. Actually all of the coup attempts are against to the public because purpose of coup is to capture the power which they cannot capture in a legitimate way. So coup attempt can be against to legitimate government as well as the coups are against the will of people and public indeed. We consider this coup attempt in the same way. When we looked the results of the coup attempt, it can be seen that public have faced all results. The way of people of Turkey prevent the coup is really admirable. We may say that the public resisted against coup attempt because all people came from different background, party and political view and so this the power of public. Coup attempt made against the public and public resisted against it.’

Dry and wet should be separated and the right of innocent people should be protected

Karadag: ‘Operation related to the coup was launched immediately after the coup attempt and the participants of the coup detained and the operation must continue. Now thousands of people detained and this situation will continue. Until now it was known in certainly that perhaps coup was prepared but the coup attempt of like this was not expected. Think of that the president’s aide and even close to chief of general staff participated coup attempt. At this point, it is spoken among people that there is the weakness in terms of security intelligence and it should be overcome. The flow of information between institutions should be resolved and there will be some steps at some legal and structural point to solve the problems. I assume that legal regulating will be done about it. Also people who supported the coup from outside of military like retired member of army and from bureaucracy, judiciary and police must be identified.  Dry and wet should be separated and the right of innocent people should be protected.’

‘It was determined that with the pro-coup mind-set, Fethullah Gulen organisation is a terrorist group’ said Karadag and stated lastly:

‘They certainly should not be given opportunity and in the hard way measures should be taken to prevent any coup. Now there is no excuse of situation. In the history of Republic of Turkey we saw a lot of coups and after the coups and unfortunately public was paid the price of this unlawful process. For example, the military dictatorship has emerged in the 60’s and 80’s coups, rights and law has been suspended. Between the years 1980-82 there are neither parliament nor the constitution nor the laws in Turkey.  Just a five-man junta has ruled the country with the decisions this unlawful board. Thousands, perhaps millions of people suffered from coups. Torture, detention, disappearances and economic downfall. Surely it was nightmare for the public and these should not to be allowed. Also we have increase the quality of our education to decrease the possibility of coups because it is the only way we can fight with this violent mind-set. I think it is related with the changing of the curriculum which can include the morality of mercy and humble for all society. We can say with satisfaction that Turkey reached this point’, he stated.
