Cafer Gizli was murdered by a group of pro PKK mob during an activity named ‘Winter Camps Project’ organized by Youth and Sports Ministry. The first trail of the murder is going to be held in Silifke Court House on May 17.

The hearing is going to be held at Silifke High Criminal Court and the single arrested suspect Mehmet Duman is going to appear in the court for the first time.

It is alleged in the indictment that defendant Mehmet Duman and other students accompanying him came from Hakkari province attacked Cafer Gizli’s room with bats they brought from the beach nearby and broke the windows of his room.

Indicating in the prosecutorial indictment that victim Gizli jumped from the window and ran towards the group after the onrush to his room started, defendant Mehmet Duman has stabbed Gizli once in his stomach with a knife he brought with him and victim toppled and fell to the ground.

Stating that victim died because of a stab wound in his stomach that caused a major bleeding in his internal organs, it is claimed in the indictment that the assailants called an attendant in the camp and then he called gendarmerie.

While indictment underlines that defendant Mehmet Duman confessed his guilt, it is also remarked that the knife wielded in the incident was sent along with defendant’s palm and finger print and DNA sample to Ankara Gendarmerie Criminal Department to be examined for any match.

As it is remembered on 31st January 2016 in Silifke district in Mersin province, 11th grade student Cafer Gizli was killed in an attack by pro PKK students while they were in 23 April Recreational Facility run by Mersin Provincial Directorate of Youth Services and Sport. (ILKHA)
