Turkish coast guard rescues 26 migrants drifting off Çanakkale coast
The Turkish Coast Guard successfully rescued 26 irregular migrants, including 14 children, from a rubber dinghy that was drifting off the coast of Ayvacık district in Çanakkale due to engine failure.
Acting swiftly after receiving a distress call, the Coast Guard Command deployed its vessel, numbered "TCSG-905," to the area. The stranded migrants were safely brought ashore following the intervention.
The rescued individuals were later transferred to the Migrant Pre-Admission and Referral Centre (GÖKSEM) after completing necessary procedures.
The Coast Guard's rapid response highlights ongoing efforts to address challenges faced by migrants at sea, ensuring their safety and providing them with essential support. (ILKHA)
