184 Palestinian journalists killed since onset of Gaza genocide
The Government Media Office in Gaza reported that the number of Palestinian journalists killed since the onset of the Israeli offensive on the Gaza Strip has reached 184 as of Friday.
The latest fatality was journalist Khaled Abu Zar from Voice of Youth Radio, who was killed in an airstrike.
The office issued a statement condemning the attacks on journalists, accusing Israeli forces of deliberately targeting media personnel during the conflict, which began on October 7, 2023. According to the statement, Israeli forces have systematically targeted journalists, leading to numerous injuries, some of which resulted in the amputation of limbs.
The Government Media Office urged international organizations and the global community to hold Israel accountable, calling for legal action in international courts to address what it described as ongoing crimes against Palestinian journalists and broader allegations of genocide in Gaza.
The conflict, ongoing for over a year, has reportedly seen intensified targeting of journalists, with both fatalities and severe injuries, prompting widespread calls for accountability and protective measures for journalists working in conflict zones. (ILKHA)
