Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh to meet Iranian Foreign Minister in Tehran
Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh is set to meet with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian in Tehran on Tuesday.
Haniyeh’s visit to the Iranian capital includes separate meetings with other high-ranking Iranian officials.
The timing of Haniyeh’s visit holds significance: it coincides with the UN Security Council’s recent resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. The resolution, passed just a day ago, aims to halt the ongoing conflict and bring relief to the war-torn region.
Hamas remains steadfast in its position, echoing the stance it put forth on March 14. The group emphasizes the urgent need for a complete cessation of hostilities, the withdrawal of Zionist forces from Gaza, the return of refugees, and an exchange of prisoners.
Notably, Hamas holds Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accountable for the failure of previous attempts to reach a lasting ceasefire agreement in Gaza. (ILKHA)
