Speaking to reporters outside the EU foreign affairs meeting in Brussels on Monday, Borrell painted a grim picture of Gaza's plight, asserting, "Gaza was, before the war, the greatest open-air prison. Today it is the greatest open-air graveyard." He lamented the loss of countless lives and the erosion of essential tenets of humanitarian law due to Israeli aggression.

Borrell's comments come amid alarming reports of famine in Gaza, with the EU official stating that "100% of its people are acutely food insecure," with a staggering 70% facing famine in the North. He vehemently opposed the use of hunger as a tool of warfare and issued a direct plea to Israel to grant unrestricted humanitarian access to the besieged territory.

The European Union's stance underscores growing international concern over the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza, as calls for urgent action to alleviate the suffering of its populace intensify. (ILKHA)
