UNRWA: One in three children under 2 malnourished in northern Gaza
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has issued a dire warning about the escalating malnutrition crisis affecting children under the age of 2 in northern Gaza.
With one in three infants now acutely malnourished, the situation has reached unprecedented levels.
The Gaza Strip, already devastated by israel's brutal war of genocide, faces a major humanitarian catastrophe. Much of the region lies in ruins, and its 2.3 million population is grappling with displacement and severe hardships.
Despite international appeals, the Israeli occupation authorities have hindered the flow of essential aid into Gaza. Obstacles include crossing closures, exhaustive searches, movement restrictions, and internal unrest within the enclave. Hospitals in Gaza report alarming cases of child deaths due to malnutrition and dehydration.
The international committee monitoring food insecurity is expected to release a report soon, detailing the extent of the hunger crisis. Last December, they warned of an imminent risk of famine extending until May.
As the situation worsens, urgent action is needed to prevent further suffering and loss of life in Gaza. The world watches as this humanitarian tragedy unfolds. (ILKHA)
