​​​​​​​Turkish poultry industry reports growth in chicken meat and hen egg production

In a statement released by the Turkish Statistical Institute, the country's poultry industry showcased notable growth in both chicken meat and hen egg production for the month of July.

The report revealed that chicken meat production reached 194,912 tons, representing a substantial increase of 3.3% compared to the same month in the previous year. Furthermore, in comparison to the previous month, chicken meat production surged by an impressive 10.8%.

Hen egg production also experienced a robust growth of 7.4% in July compared to the previous year, with a total of 1.68 billion units. On a month-on-month basis, there was a 6.2% increase.

While the number of slaughtered chickens increased by 1.1% in July when compared to the same month of the previous year, it decreased by 7.5% for the January to July period.

In contrast, turkey meat production faced a decline of 11.4% in July and 8.7% for the January-July period compared to the previous year.

For the January to July period, hen egg production witnessed an overall increase of 4.2%. However, chicken meat production decreased by 4.3% during the same period.

The number of slaughtered chickens also saw a decline of 7.5%, while turkey meat production dropped by 8.7% compared to the previous year.

The Turkish poultry industry's positive performance in chicken meat and hen egg production underscores its resilience and adaptability in the face of market challenges.

These statistics suggest that the poultry sector in Turkey continues to evolve, with fluctuating trends in various segments. The rise in chicken meat and egg production is indicative of consumer demand, while challenges remain in turkey meat production. (ILKHA)
