Afghan Foreign Minister meets with Japanese envoy to discuss strengthening ties

Afghan Foreign Minister Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi met with Japan's Envoy for Afghanistan Mr. Takashi Okada on Wednesday to discuss ways to strengthen relations between the two countries.

During the meeting, Muttaqi briefed Okada on the achievements of the Islamic Emirate in ensuring security, combating narcotics, and boosting the country's economy.

Okada acknowledged the progress made by the IEA and reiterated the commitment of the Japanese government to support Afghanistan's development.

He also said that Japan is willing to cooperate with the Afghan government in dealing with the impacts of climate change, water management, preserving heritage, terrorism, and health.

The two sides also discussed the upcoming meeting of the UN Security Council on Afghanistan. Okada said that Japan will present fact-based information about the situation in Afghanistan to the Security Council.

The meeting was held in a positive and constructive atmosphere. Both sides expressed their commitment to working together to promote peace and stability in Afghanistan. (ILKHA)
