Turkish authorities seize 153 kilograms of heroin in truck from Iran

Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya has announced the interception of 153 kilograms of heroin in a truck attempting to enter Türkiye from Iran.

The operation was carried out at the Esendere Customs area in Yüksekova, Hakkari.

“Last night, a truck destined for Türkiye from Iran and intended to continue to Belgium via Mersin was intercepted at the Yüksekova Esendere Customs area. As part of the risk analysis, the truck was sent for X-ray examination, and during a detailed search conducted with a narcotic detector dog, 153 kilograms of heroin were seized,” Yerlikaya wrote on social media platform X.

The successful operation underscores Turkey's commitment to combatting drug trafficking and its dedication to safeguarding its borders from illegal narcotics trade. Further details of the operation are expected to be revealed as the investigation progresses.
