Türkiye’s annual producer inflation in agriculture rises by 151 pct—statistical agency

The producer price index of agricultural products (Agriculture-PPI) increased by 151.03% annually and increased by 4.82% monthly, Turkish Statistical Institute said in a statement on Monday.

Agriculture-PPI (2015=100) on the previous month increased by 4.82%, on December of the previous year increased by 151.03%, on same month of the previous year increased by 151.03% and on the twelve months moving averages basis increased by 132.18% in December 2022.

Compared to the previous month in sectors; forestry products and related services decreased by 3.45%, products of agriculture, hunting and related services increased by 5.03% and fishing products and other fishing products increased by 5.37%.

Regarding monthly changes by main groups; non-perennial crops decreased by 1.67%, live animals and animal products increased by 7.81% and perennial crops increased by 15.90%.

Compared to general Agriculture-PPI, lower annual change observed in 6 subgroups while 6 subgroups were higher

Fiber plants with 82.94% and sheep and goats, live; raw milk and shorn wool from sheep and goats with 91.54% were the subgroups that indicated lowest annual increase.

On the other hand, citrus fruits with 309.17% and vegetables and melons, roots and tubers with 191.66% were the subgroups where high annual increases realized.

Compared to general Agriculture-PPI, lower monthly change observed in 9 subgroups while 3 subgroups were higher

Vegetables and melons, roots and tubers with %2.64 and cereals (except rice), leguminous crops and oil seeds with 1.56% were the subgroups that indicated monthly decrease.

On the other hand, dairy cattle, live and raw milk from dairy cattle with 9.58% and tropical and subtropical fruits with 8.25% were the subgroups that indicated high monthly increase.

In December 2022, within average prices of 86 items in the index; the average prices of 34 items decreased while the average prices of 49 items increased. (ILKHA)
