Turkey's annual producer inflation in agriculture tops 148% in June

Producer Price Index of Agricultural Products increased by 148.90% annually and decreased by 0.66% monthly, the Turkish Statistical Institute said on Monday.

Agriculture-PPI (2015=100) on the previous month decreased by 0.66%, on December of the previous year increased by 98.84%, on same month of the previous year increased by 148.90% and on the twelve months moving averages basis increased by 67.98% in June 2022.

Compared to the previous month in sectors; products of agriculture, hunting and related services decreased by 0.91%, forestry products and related services decreased by 3.32% and fishing products and other fishing products increased by 15.48%. Regarding monthly changes by main groups; non-perennial crops decreased by 1.39%, perennial crops decreased by 12.23% and live animals and animal products increased by 10.69%.

Compared to general Agriculture-PPI, lower annual change observed in 7 subgroups while 4 subgroups were higher

Other farmed animals and animal products with 64.63% and sheep and goats, live; raw milk and shorn wool from sheep and goats with 70.00% were the subgroups that indicated lowest annual increase. On the other hand, fibre plants with 277.14% and cereals (except rice), leguminous crops and oil seeds 184.99% were the subgroups where high annual increases realized.

Compared to general Agriculture-PPI, lower monthly change observed in 4 subgroups while 7 subgroups were higher

Vegetables and melons, roots and tubers with 23.82% and pome fruits and stone fruits with 21.74% were the subgroups that indicated high monthly decrease. On the other hand, oleaginous fruits with 29.01% and cereals (except rice), leguminous crops and oil seeds with 23.11% were the subgroups that indicated high monthly increase.

In June 2022, within average prices of 82 items in the index; the average prices of 23 items decreased and the average prices of 3 items remained unchanged while the average prices of 56 items increased. (ILKHA)
