According to local sources, the clashes started after the zionist police intensified their presence in the area and placed barriers on both sides of Bab al-Amud on the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.
Four Palestinian young men were reportedly assaulted and kidnapped during the events in the area.

About 50,000 Muslim worshipers observed the nighttime Isha and Tarawih prayers at the Aqsa Mosque on the first day of Ramadan.
