6.4 Magnitude earthquake hits off west coast of Cyprus

A 6.4 magnitude earthquake occurred at 04:07 a.m. local time (0107 GMT) in the Mediterranean Sea off the southwest coast of Cyprus island early Tuesday, the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) said.

The epicenter of the quake was reported 30 miles west-northwest of the city of Polis in western Cyprus, at a depth of two miles underground.

The tremor was felt across Cyprus and around the region with reports from as far away as Turkey, Syria, Palestine, Egypt and Lebanon.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage. (ILKHA)
