This move comes as part of a power-sharing arrangement between the two main political parties following last year's elections.

Under the agreement, the center-right GERB party, which emerged victorious in the April 2023 general elections, and the reformist coalition led by "We Continue the Change," have agreed to rotate the prime ministerial position every nine months.

Nikolay Denkov, representing the reformist coalition, is expected to step down, paving the way for GERB's Maria Gabriel to assume the role of prime minister.

Maria Gabriel, a former European Commissioner who previously served as deputy head of government and foreign minister, is poised to take over leadership responsibilities. (ILKHA)
