The February 6th tremors, measuring 7.6 and 7.7 magnitude, claimed over 55,000 lives and left millions homeless.

Despite the tragedy striking close to home, with team members losing loved ones, Concern's Türkiye team has assisted over 375,000 people. Their aid includes providing shelter, food, cash assistance, clean water, sanitation, psychological support, and legal aid.

"The earthquakes devastated our homes and workplaces, taking many lives," said Shahzad Jamil, Concern's Türkiye Country Director. "But we came together to help in the aftermath."

Their efforts extend beyond Türkiye, with teams also responding in northwest Syria. The organization expresses gratitude to donors like Irish Aid, the EU, and the US Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance for their continued support.

"We are proud of our response and committed to supporting the affected communities until they recover," Jamil added, commending the Turkish government and people for their remarkable response to the immense disaster.

Concern's presence in the region, established ten years ago to assist Syrian refugees, allowed for a swift response. Despite personal losses, their teams continued operations in severely impacted areas like Hatay, Adıyaman, and Gaziantep.

With over 15 million people affected across both countries, Concern Worldwide remains dedicatedto providing vital assistance and supporting the long-term recovery process. (ILKHA)
