Türkiye’s annual inflation hits 64.86%, monthly increase at 6.70%
The Turkish Statistical Institute has reported a significant annual increase of 64.86% in the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
The monthly change in the general index showed a 6.70% increase, according to the agency.
The lowest annual increase was observed in clothing and footwear at 40.62%, while hotels, cafes, and restaurants marked the highest annual increase at 92.27%.
In January 2024, clothing and footwear experienced the lowest monthly increase at -1.61%, while health recorded the highest monthly increase at 17.68%.
Among the 143 basic headings in the index, 8 decreased, 4 remained unchanged, and 131 increased.
The indicator for CPI, excluding unprocessed food, energy, alcoholic beverages, tobacco, and gold, showed a 67.68% annual increase. (ILKHA)
