Attack on police station in NW Pakistan leaves 10 dead
At least 10 police personnel were killed and six injured in a deadly attack on a police station in northwest Pakistan early Monday morning, according to local authorities.
The attack unfolded around 3 am local time (3:30 am IST) when unidentified militants initially targeted constables stationed outside the police station with sniper fire. They then managed to breach the perimeter and enter the building, where they reportedly used hand grenades, causing further casualties.
"After entering the building of the police station, the terrorists used hand grenades which caused more casualties to the police," said Malik Anees ul Hassan, the deputy superintendent of police in Draban.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, which has sent shockwaves through the region. Pakistani security forces have launched a manhunt for the perpetrators, and an investigation is underway. (ILKHA)
