US and UK launch fresh airstrikes on Yemen
The United States and the United Kingdom carried out airstrikes in Yemen on Thursday morning, targeting what they claimed was an "imminent threat" to merchant vessels and US Navy ships in the region.
The United States and the United Kingdom have launched fresh attacks on ammunition depots belonging to Yemeni forces. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) issued a statement providing details of the joint American and British airstrikes carried out in Yemen on Thursday morning.
According to CENTCOM, the airstrikes were aimed at a "UAV ground control station and 10 one-way UAVs" that posed an imminent threat to merchant vessels and US Navy ships in the region. The statement claims that the targeted assets presented a danger to maritime interests, justifying the military action.
While the United States asserts the defensive nature of the strikes, Yemeni media reported aggressive attacks by the American and British coalition on Saada, a province in the northwest of Sana'a. The official news agency of Yemen, "Saba," confirmed that the US and the UK conducted two airstrikes on Saada province.
Al-Masirah TV channel in Yemen also verified the joint invasion by the US and the UK, specifying the "Al Jabbana" district in the north of the coastal city of Hudaidah.
Additionally, Yemeni sources reported the presence of American and British coalition fighter jets flying over the port city of Hudaidah.
The situation raises concerns about escalating tensions in the region and the impact on local communities, emphasizing the need for diplomatic efforts to address the root causes of conflict in Yemen. (ILKHA)
