Türkiye expresses concern over UNRWA funding cuts
The Turkish Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Sunday expressing concern over recent decisions by certain countries to suspend funding for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
The ministry expressed concern over the decision of some countries to suspend funding to UNRWA, stating that “working under very difficult conditions, UNRWA meets the vital needs of millions of Palestine refugees”.
The ministry also highlighted that since October 7, more than 150 UNRWA personnel have been killed by israel in Gaza, and that the suspension of funding to UNRWA, following allegations against a few UNRWA staff, will primarily harm the Palestinian people.
The ministry called on the countries that have announced the suspension of funding to UNRWA to reconsider their decisions. (ILKHA)
