The event aims to raise awareness of the Kurdish language and promote its preservation among the Kurdish community. It will take place at the Diyarbakır Sezai Karakoç Culture and Congress Centre at 14:00.

Lawyer Muhammed Ata Yüksel, who will moderate the event, stressed the central role of language for humanity and invited all Diyarbakır residents to attend. Yüksel emphasized the need for the Kurdish people to preserve their language, thoughts, beliefs, consciousness, awareness, history and culture.

“As Kurdish people, let’s protect our language, our thoughts and beliefs, our consciousness and awareness, our history and culture,” Yüksel urged. “We’re saying let’s protect, defend and pass on our language to our future generations. Because language is a heritage and a bridge to our future generations. We accept this event as a beginning. This process is a first. In other words, it will be the beginning of a new era for us and our people”.

The “I Choose Kurdish” event is of great significance to the Kurdish community in Türkiye, given the historical challenges and restrictions faced by the Kurdish language. The initiative reflects a growing awareness of the need to preserve the Kurdish language and cultural identity.
