Turkish authorities arrest 28 suspects in anti-ISIS operations
Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced on Thursday that 28 people suspected of involvement with the Islamic State (ISIS) had been arrested in a series of coordinated raids across nine provinces.
The operation, codenamed "Heroes-46", targeted ISIS cells believed to be planning attacks inside Turkey.
"28 suspects were arrested in 'Heroes-46' operations carried out simultaneously in 9 provinces against the ISIS terrorist organisation," Yerlikaya wrote on X.
The minister's statement did not elaborate on the specific charges against those arrested or the nature of the planned attacks in which they were allegedly involved.
However, it underlines the ongoing efforts of Turkish security forces to combat terrorism in the country and dismantle potential threats posed by ISIS. (ILKHA)
