The high-level discussions aim to address pressing issues in the Middle East, with a focus on the Palestinian question.

Fidan held closed-door talks with his Austrian counterpart, Alexander Schallenberg, at the Turkish House in New York. Additionally, he met with Geir Pedersen, the Special Envoy of the U.N. Secretary-General for Syria, to discuss regional developments.

The Turkish Foreign Minister also received a delegation from the Turkish American National Steering Committee at the Turkish House. Details about the discussions in this closed-door meeting were not disclosed by the Foreign Ministry.

Earlier, Fidan engaged in talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. These diplomatic efforts precede the U.N. Security Council meeting, where the situation in the Middle East, particularly the Gaza crisis, will be addressed.

U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is set to brief the Security Council, which includes senior foreign ministers and ambassadors from the 15 Council members.

The meeting will provide an opportunity for nations to voice their perspectives on the escalating crisis in Gaza, marked by israel's military operation, a rising death toll, and mounting calls for an immediate cease-fire. (ILKHA)
