During an interview with the RTA radio network in Dublin, Martin underscored the seriousness with which Ireland is studying South Africa's complaint, acknowledging the extended duration of judicial processes and emphasizing the need to concurrently focus on achieving an immediate ceasefire.

"We are studying South Africa's complaint with the utmost seriousness, and since these judicial procedures take years to resolve, we must, in the meantime, focus on achieving a ceasefire," stated Martin, highlighting the urgency of addressing the ongoing crisis in Gaza.

Expressing alignment with South Africa's objectives, Martin emphasized, "What South Africa is seeking is exactly what we were seeking: an immediate ceasefire and unimpeded access for humanitarian aid to Gaza."

Describing the situation in Gaza as tragic, Martin condemned the Israeli bombing, deeming it shocking, horrific, and unjustified. He emphasized that there is no excuse for any delay in delivering vital aid to Gaza.

Martin disclosed Ireland's proactive steps in addressing related concerns, stating that the country has submitted legal documents on the occupation of parts of the West Bank to the International Court of Justice. Additionally, Ireland has allocated three million euros in additional funding to enhance the court's investigations into potential war crimes.

Looking ahead, the Deputy Prime Minister affirmed his intention to take measures at the European Union level, aiming to exert stronger pressure on israel to cease its operations. These developments underscore Ireland's commitment to addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and seeking accountability for actions perceived as potential war crimes. (ILKHA)
