Altun: Türkiye’s vision for the century reaches space with space journey
Fahrettin Altun, the Director of Communications for the Turkish Presidency, announced on social media that Alper Gezeravcı, Türkiye's first astronaut and space traveler, will undertake a 14-day mission on the International Space Station (ISS) to conduct various scientific experiments.

In his statement, Altun mentioned that Türkiye's vision for the century has now reached space. He highlighted the National Space Programme of Türkiye, which was unveiled by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in 2021, and the ongoing efforts to send a Turkish citizen into space as part of this initiative.
"Following evaluations, Alper Gezeravcı was selected as the first Turkish space traveler. Gezeravcı is set to begin his space journey tonight, scheduled for a 14-day stay on the International Space Station, where he will carry out a variety of scientific experiments. A total of thirteen experiments will be conducted in space, covering a wide range of topics such as cancer, immune cells, algae, and propolis. These studies aim to contribute valuable insights to the existing literature," Altun stated. (ILKHA)
