Urgent healthcare crisis in Gaza: 180 women daily facing perilous birth conditions
The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has raised alarm over the dire conditions faced by expectant mothers in Gaza, stating that 180 women are giving birth daily in "dangerous and inhumane conditions."
Many women struggle to reach hospitals due to the blockade, with zionist forces impeding ambulance access, as reported by PRCS on Saturday.
In a poignant video shared by the group, a doctor provides guidance over the phone to a woman in labor. The Palestinian health ministry revealed that only six ambulances are operational throughout the entire Gaza Strip. Since the beginning of the israeli bombing on October 7, at least 121 ambulances have been destroyed, leaving critical medical services severely impaired.
The health ministry in Gaza reported 135 Palestinians killed and 312 wounded within 24 hours, with an israeli army attack on a house in Rafah claiming 14 lives, including a two-year-old girl. The overall toll from Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7 has reached 23,843 deaths and over 60,317 injuries.
Despite ongoing challenges, the health ministry highlighted the relentless targeting of health personnel through bombings and arrests. Gaza authorities are struggling to maintain essential services, including intensive care units and nurseries, amid the persisting crisis. (ILKHA)
