Oxfam's statement emphasized that the occupation is "killing Palestinians at an average rate of 250 people a day, which massively exceeds the daily death toll of any other major conflict of recent years." The charity provided a comparative list of average deaths per day in other conflict zones since the turn of the century, highlighting the severity of the situation: 96.5 in Syria, 51.6 in Sudan, 50.8 in Iraq, 43.9 in Ukraine, 23.8 in Afghanistan, and 15.8 in Yemen.

According to Oxfam, Palestinians face a serious risk of starvation due to restrictions on aid entry into Gaza, with only 10% of the required weekly food aid reaching those in need.

Simultaneously, the United States-based rights group Human Rights Watch (HRW) released its World Report 2024, echoing concerns over the dire situation in Gaza. The report highlighted that Palestinians in Gaza have been "targeted, attacked, abused, and killed over the past year at a scale unprecedented in the recent history of Israel and Palestine."

HRW's report accused the occupation of employing "acts of collective punishment that amount to war crimes and include the use of starvation as a method of warfare." This includes preventing the access to essential needs such as water and electricity and blocking the entry of crucial humanitarian aid.
