Explosion at cosmetic factory in Iran's Karaj leaves 25 injured
In a tragic incident on Tuesday, an explosion rocked a prominent cosmetic factory in Iran's Karaj, situated in the capital of Alborze Province, just north of Tehran.
Early reports suggest that a gas leak triggered the explosion, causing extensive damage to the factory's equipment and internal facilities. Initially reported as 20 injured, the number later increased to 25.
Hossein Ashuri, the head of the fire department in Fardis town, located in the suburb of Karaj where the explosion occurred, provided details about the response efforts. "At 3:30 p.m. today, with the announcement of a factory fire in Simin Dasht district, rescue and firefighting teams were dispatched to the scene of the incident," he stated.
Ashuri confirmed that 25 people were injured in the incident, and they were promptly transported to Fardis and Karaj hospitals for medical attention.
Explaining the likely cause of the accident, the Fardis Fire Chief stated, "According to initial estimates, the cause of the fire in the production line was due to a gas leak during the filling of cosmetic sprays, which led to the fire."
Reports indicate that the factory fire ensued following a loud explosion, resulting in substantial damage to the facility. Simin Dasht industrial town, where the incident occurred, is a key industrial area in Alborz province, housing over 150 operational factories.
While some media outlets initially cited 53 people as injured in the incident, official figures have confirmed 25 casualties as of now. (ILKHA)
