The Turkish Coast Guard Command reported that the rescue mission included 36 irregular migrants on a rubber boat and a fibre boat, forcibly pushed into Turkish territorial waters by Greek forces. Additionally, 22 irregular migrants on a fibre boat experiencing engine failure were also rescued along the Bodrum coast.

Two suspects, believed to be migrant smugglers, were apprehended during the rescue operations. Authorities are investigating their involvement in these dangerous human trafficking activities.

The rescued migrants, including those on the rubber boat and the one with engine failure, were promptly sent to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management.

The incident underscores the ongoing challenges in the region regarding irregular migration and the complex dynamics involving neighboring countries. (ILKHA)
