Journalist death toll in Gaza reaches 107 amid ongoing israeli aggression
The Government Media Office (GMO) announced on Friday that the death toll of journalists in the Gaza Strip has surged to 107 since the initiation of Israeli aggression on October 7.
The latest casualty, journalist Akram Al-Shafei, 53, succumbed to injuries sustained from Israeli gunfire while attempting to inspect his house northwest of Gaza City two months ago.
Al-Shafei had been hospitalized at Al-Shifa Hospital for over two months, grappling with a severe abdominal injury. His health took a turn for the worse after Israeli forces entered Al-Shifa Hospital in mid-November, leaving him without medical treatment for more than two weeks due to the arrest of medical staff.
Despite being transferred to another hospital in the south of the Gaza Strip along with other injured individuals, Al-Shafei's health continued to deteriorate until his unfortunate demise earlier today.
Safa media agency expressed heartfelt condolences to Al-Shafei's family and pledged to persist in exposing what they term as Israeli crimes.
The incident underscores the perilous conditions faced by journalists covering the conflict in the region, as the death toll continues to rise amid the ongoing Israeli aggression. The international community closely monitors the situation, with concerns growing over the safety of media personnel in conflict zones. (ILKHA)
