Turkish leaders offer condolences to Iran after deadly blasts
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and other Turkish officials have offered their condolences to Iran following the deadly explosions that killed at least 103 people near the tomb of slain Iranian General Qassem Soleimani.
In a statement, Erdogan condemned the attacks as "heinous" and expressed his condolences to the "friendly and brotherly" people of Iran. He wished for God's mercy upon those who lost their lives and a speedy recovery to those who were injured.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry also issued a statement condemning the "terrorist attack in the strongest terms possible" and expressing Türkiye's "sadness" over the incident. The ministry also conveyed condolences to the Iranian people and government while wishing Allah's mercy upon the dead and swift recovery to the wounded.
Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus condemned the attacks, saying that he hoped for God's mercy upon those who lost their lives and a speedy recovery to those who were injured. He also offered his condolences and wishes for well-being to the Iranian people.
The explosions took place on Wednesday during a ceremony commemorating Soleimani, who was killed in a US drone strike in 2020. At least 103 people were killed and many more were injured in the attacks. (ILKHA)
