Islamic Emirate dismisses report on journalists' rights violations in Afghanistan
Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, has rejected the findings of the Afghan Journalists Center's report, which claimed 168 violations of journalists' rights in Afghanistan this year.
Mujahid argued that some journalists were briefly detained for engaging in non-journalistic or criminal activities, emphasizing that they did not face harm from the government.
He also refuted claims of government pressure on the media, asserting that all visual and online media outlets enjoyed freedom to operate, discuss, analyze, and publish reports, highlighting a situation he deemed better than in many other countries.
The spokesperson clarified that disciplinary actions were taken against some media outlets exhibiting serious deviations and working against the national interests of the Islamic Emirate.
He cited the example of a radio station that faced restrictions for attempting to broadcast content influenced by external circles, noting that the radio station remained under limitations. (ILKHA)
