The rescue mission was initiated following a report indicating the presence of irregular migrants in rubber boats in the waters near Bodrum.

According to a statement from the Coast Guard Command, Coast Guard boats were immediately dispatched to the specified area to address the situation. The teams successfully located and rescued 44 irregular migrants who were stranded in two separate rubber boats, reportedly pushed back into Turkish territorial waters by Greece.

Upon completion of the rescue operation, the migrants were handed over to the Muğla Provincial Directorate of Migration Management to undergo necessary procedures. The incident highlights the ongoing challenges and risks faced by migrants attempting to cross borders, often relying on unsafe means of transportation.

This successful rescue underscores the importance of coordinated efforts by coastal authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of those in distress at sea. Turkish officials continue to emphasize the need for international cooperation to address the complex issues surrounding irregular migration. (ILKHA)
