Euro-Med documents israeli army field executions in Gaza Strip
In a primary report submitted to UN special rapporteurs and the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor has documented dozens of cases of field executions carried out by the israeli army in the Gaza Strip.
The human rights group called for an immediate investigation into these crimes, demanding accountability for the perpetrators and justice for all victims.
Euro-Med Monitor submitted the initial file to key figures, including Maurice Tydball Benz, the UN Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial or arbitrary executions, Francesca Albanese, the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, Navanethem Pillay, head of the Investigative Committee on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, and Karim Khan, ICC Prosecutor.
The rights organization urged a firm stance from the international community regarding the widespread killing operations carried out by Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip, particularly the field executions and physical liquidations. Euro-Med Monitor also requested the establishment of an international legal team, pressure to secure entry into Gaza for investigations, and the initiation of an inquiry into these and other instances of Palestinian civilians being killed by Israeli forces.
Euro-Med Monitor emphasized the need for serious international action to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, halt unjustifiable killings, open a criminal investigation into reported atrocities by the Israeli military, and ensure accountability and justice for every Palestinian victim and survivor.
Since the Israeli army's ground attack began in the Gaza Strip on October 27, dozens of executions and direct physical liquidations against civilians have been carried out, according to Euro-Med Monitor. The human rights organization estimated that more than 28,000 Palestinians have been killed since the start of the Israeli campaign in the Gaza Strip, with women and children constituting 70% of recorded victims.
The legal file prepared by Euro-Med Monitor detailed specific instances of Israeli forces' extrajudicial execution crimes and liquidations during their ground incursion into the Gaza Strip. These cases include the execution of civilians from a single family, shooting and leaving an elderly couple to bleed to death, and the killing of a mentally ill man, among other tragic incidents.
Euro-Med Monitor asserted that these Israeli executions violate international standards and the right to life, calling for a swift investigation into the violations and war crimes committed against civilians in the Gaza Strip. The organization urged the UN special rapporteurs and the ICC Prosecutor to hold those responsible for issuing and carrying out illegal orders accountable. (ILKHA)
