Erdogan: Current challenges mark birth pangs of Palestinian state
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during his return flight from Algeria, addressed the press and strongly denounced the israeli aggression on Gaza.
Erdogan emphasized the changing global sentiment against israel, citing increasing public support for Palestine worldwide.
In his statements, Erdogan highlighted recent protests in various countries, including Germany, the UK, and the US, expressing solidarity with the Palestinian cause. He pointed out internal dissent in israel, where calls for Prime Minister Netanyahu's resignation are growing, given his legal predicament.
Erdogan called for a united international effort against Gaza's oppression, urging governments to align with international law, human rights, and ethical values. Commending positive steps at Gaza's Rafah Border Crossing with Egypt, he expressed Turkey's commitment to aiding Gazan patients and facilitating their evacuation.
Regarding the blockade on Gaza, Erdogan stressed the need for a comprehensive strategy involving the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Arab League. He called for utilizing economic, political, diplomatic, sociological, and cultural elements to establish a ceasefire, deliver aid, and rebuild Gaza, emphasizing the necessity of eliminating blockades imposed by Zionists.
Erdogan also addressed the issue of Israeli captives held by Hamas, expressing confidence in Qatar's role in shaping the peace process and predicting a potential exchange of hostages.
Turning to the international response, Erdogan criticized European countries for their silence on the Gaza issue and urged the Islamic world not to remain silent, as the potential fall of Gaza would deeply impact the unity and solidarity of the Islamic world.
Erdogan strongly condemned Israel's actions in Gaza, labeling them a crime against humanity and genocide. He urged leaders to rectify their pro-israel stance and avoid complicity in these crimes, emphasizing the need to speak out against israeli state terrorism.
In a shift to domestic matters, Erdogan highlighted Türkiye's advancements in the indigenous defense industry, praising the contributions of those dedicated to its development. He expressed excitement about ongoing projects and reassured that Türkiye is poised to build a greater reputation in the defense sector and other domains.
