Dr. Gilbert, who dedicated 16 years of service at Al-Shifa, expressed profound concern over the dire humanitarian situation and accused Israel of perpetrating a "systematic attack on civilian healthcare, completely against international law."

Speaking passionately, Dr. Gilbert emphasized the devastating impact of the conflict on hospitals in Gaza. He reported that the largest hospital in the region was being deliberately targeted, resulting in a surge of casualties.

"I got a report yesterday from the minister of health that 20 out of the 23 ICU patients had died. Seventeen other patients died because of lack of supplies, oxygen, and water," he stated, highlighting the urgent need for intervention.

The Norwegian doctor sharply criticized what he perceives as a lack of substantial international response, placing blame on European leaders and the U.S. president for the ongoing bloodshed of defenseless civilians.

"Israeli impunity has reached a new level, and we are all sinking into that abyss of disregard for human life," Dr. Gilbert asserted, urging swift and decisive action to address the crisis.

In response to claims by the Israeli government asserting that Hamas is using hospitals in Gaza for military purposes, Dr. Gilbert vehemently refuted these allegations, deeming them unfounded.

"They don’t have the right to bomb hospitals. That’s very clear," he declared, urging the media to refocus its attention on the real issue at hand – the continuous bombing and loss of life in Gaza.

Deeply troubled by the unfolding crisis, Dr. Gilbert underscored the evacuation of Al-Quds Hospital, characterizing it as a "convoy of shame" to the Western world.

"This convoy of misery is the result of a lenient attitude to the Israeli violations of international law through many, many years," he expressed, stressing the urgent need for intervention to halt the actions of the israeli army.

The ongoing conflict in Gaza has ignited global concerns, prompting calls for an immediate ceasefire and concerted efforts to address the worsening humanitarian crisis that has left thousands of Palestinians displaced and in urgent need of aid. (ILKHA)
