Daniel Endres, the OCHA humanitarian coordinator for Afghanistan, expressed concerns about the situation, emphasizing the urgent need for humanitarian aid, including water, food, and shelter, for the returning population.

Endres highlighted the immense challenge in responding to the large numbers of returnees from Pakistan, stressing the importance of finding temporary solutions to provide cash grants, food, and water. Some of the returnees have complained about the lack of shelter and basic life facilities, expressing their difficulties in coping with the cold weather.

Returned refugee Abdul Satar mentioned: “We returned here but we don’t have money, shelter, the weather is cold, and we also have children.” Others echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the need for shelter in the harsh weather conditions.

Refugees who were deported from Pakistan and relocated in temporary camps have urged the Afghan government to expedite the registration and distribution of aid to address their immediate needs. (ILKHA)
