The Republican-sponsored measure, which included a substantial $4 billion allocation for the Israeli Iron Dome system, received approval in the House with a vote of 226-196. Notably, the bill secured the support of 12 Democrats and faced two Republican dissenting votes.

Despite its passage in the House, Senate leader Chuck Schumer criticized the legislation as "deeply flawed" and suggested that it was unlikely to gain approval in the upper chamber of Congress. President Joe Biden further escalated the situation, expressing his intent to veto the bill should it reach his desk.

This marked a significant move by the newly-appointed Republican House Speaker, Mike Johnston, as the aid bill aimed to allocate substantial financial support to 'Israel.'

In a controversial move, Republicans proposed cutting $14.3 billion in funding for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), responsible for collecting federal taxes in the United States. The aim was to offset the expenses associated with aiding 'Israel.'

However, the impartial Congressional Budget Office (CBO) issued a warning, stating that the proposed cuts to IRS funding would lead to reduced tax income and a subsequent increase in the US deficit, estimated at roughly $12.5 billion over the next decade. (ILKHA)
