Islamic scholars call for global humanitarian alliance to protect Gaza
The Secretary-General of the Union of Muslim Scholars, Dr. Ali Al-Qaradaghi, has urged the influential Islamic nations and other countries to form a global humanitarian alliance to protect the Palestinians, especially the people of Gaza, who are facing brutal israeli attacks.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Dr. Al-Qaradaghi appealed to Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Qatar, Malaysia, Indonesia, Iran, China, Russia, and other Arab, Islamic, Asian, African, and Western nations to participate in an international conference to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and to stop the Israeli aggression. He also invited the Secretary-General of the United Nations to join the initiative.
Dr. Al-Qaradaghi suggested that Türkiye (or others) could take the lead in organizing a humanitarian summit and preparing the ground for its success. He said that such an alliance would be a powerful global force to confront tyranny and injustice, and would be similar to the Non-Aligned Movement that was founded in 1961.
Dr. Al-Qaradaghi stressed the need to reaffirm the fundamental humanitarian principles, reject the violations of human rights and dignity, and oppose the double standards and the racial outlook that discriminate against the Palestinians' right to live in dignity and freedom.
He warned that the lack of a strong Islamic, Arab, or international stance on the ongoing massacres and atrocities could trigger unpredictable reactions from individuals and groups. He emphasized the urgent and immediate need to provide relief to the besieged people of Gaza, who are subjected to continuous shelling and rocket attacks around the clock, and to protect the oppressed everywhere.
He said that this alliance should act as a "Coalition of Compassion" to restore the rights of the vulnerable. He quoted a verse from the Quran: "And say, 'Work; indeed, Allah will see your work, and [so will] His Messenger and the believers.'" (Quran, 9:105) (ILKHA)
