ICC Prosecutor warns impeding relief supplies to Gaza may constitute international crimes
The International Criminal Court's (ICC) chief prosecutor, Karim Khan, cautioned on Sunday that obstructing the delivery of relief supplies to Gaza's population could potentially amount to a crime falling within the ICC's jurisdiction.
During a news conference held in Egypt, Khan emphasized that israel needs to take immediate, discernable actions to guarantee that civilians in Gaza have access to essential provisions such as food and medicine.
This statement comes as aid supplies to the densely populated Palestinian enclave have significantly dwindled amid israel's bombardment.
United Nations officials have repeatedly underscored that the current aid deliveries are insufficient to meet the substantial humanitarian needs on the ground.
In a previously unannounced visit, the ICC prosecutor personally journeyed to the Rafah border crossing connecting Egypt and Gaza earlier in the day.
From this location, he posted a video statement on social media, further highlighting the pressing concerns surrounding the delivery of aid to Gaza. (ILKHA)
