The resolution, which received support from the majority of the 193-member world body, was adopted by a vote of 120-14, with 45 abstentions.

During the assembly, a Canadian amendment, backed by the United States, aiming to condemn the Hamas military operation, Operation Al Aqsa Flood, and to demand the immediate release of hostages taken by Hamas, was rejected. This amendment was not included in the final resolution.

The resolution's primary focus is on calling for a cessation of hostilities in Gaza to address the humanitarian crisis in the region. It gained support from a significant majority, highlighting international concern for the situation in Gaza and the need for an immediate ceasefire.

The UN resolution's call for a humanitarian truce in Gaza comes amid ongoing Zionist aggression and serves as a significant step taken by the international community to address the escalating situation and provide relief to affected civilians. (ILKHA)
