Turkish President Erdogan supports Hamas, calls for ceasefire and humanitarian aid in Gaza
In a speech to his party's lawmakers in parliament on Wednesday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan voiced his support for the Palestinian militant group Hamas, characterizing it as a liberation organization fighting to protect its land, rather than a terrorist group.
Erdogan criticized israel for what he described as taking advantage of Turkey's goodwill, leading him to cancel a planned visit to israel.
He emphasized the urgency of an immediate ceasefire between israeli and Palestinian forces and called on Muslim countries to unite in their efforts to achieve lasting peace.
The Turkish President also urged world powers to exert pressure on israel to halt its attacks in the region.
Furthermore, Erdogan emphasized the importance of keeping the Rafah border gate open for humanitarian aid and called for swift action in concluding prisoner exchanges. (ILKHA)
