Turkish police arrest 94 FETÖ suspects in Izmir raids
The Izmir Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office issued detention warrants for 110 people over their alleged links to the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), which is accused of orchestrating the failed coup attempt in 2016.
The police carried out simultaneous raids at various addresses in Izmir and other provinces, and detained 94 suspects who were allegedly part of the secretive and military structure of the group.
The suspects were taken to the police headquarters for interrogation. The operations are ongoing to capture the remaining 16 suspects.
The Turkish government has been actively pursuing measures against FETÖ, which it regards as a terrorist organization, following the failed coup attempt in 2016.
These efforts are part of a broader strategy to address the organization's activities and dismantle its network within the country. (ILKHA)
