Hamas releases two more captives for “compelling humanitarian” reasons
Hamas has released two additional hostages who have been identified as Nurit Yitzhak and Yocheved Lifshitz, according to multiple sources confirmed to NBC News.
Hamas, through its military wing, made the announcement on the messaging platform Telegram, stating that it had decided to release the two women due to "compelling humanitarian" reasons. The specifics of these reasons were not immediately disclosed.
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) played a crucial role in facilitating the release of these two captives. It transported them out of Gaza on Monday night local time.
“We facilitated the release of 2 more hostages, transporting them out of Gaza this evening. Our role as a neutral intermediary makes this work possible & we are ready to facilitate any future release. We hope that they will soon be back with their loved ones,” ICRC said in a statement on X.
This announcement comes shortly after the release of two Americans, Judith Raanan and her teenage daughter, Natalie, who had been held captive by Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
The circumstances surrounding the captivity and release of these individuals are yet to be fully detailed. (ILKHA)
