Devastation in Gaza: Thousands of residential buildings destroyed, schools targeted
Salama Marouf, the head of the government media office in Gaza, has reported on the extensive destruction caused by the zionist occupation forces in the region.
Marouf revealed that approximately 5,500 residential buildings, equivalent to 14,200 housing units, have been demolished. Additionally, around 133,370 housing units have suffered partial damage, with 10,127 now declared uninhabitable. The occupation forces have also razed 62 government buildings and inflicted significant damage on various public and service facilities.
The devastating impact extends to educational institutions, with 160 schools sustaining varying degrees of damage and 19 schools rendered non-operational.
As per the latest data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the conflict has led to the loss of nearly 3,000 lives and left more than 12,500 individuals injured.
Marouf emphasized the urgency of keeping the Rafah crossing permanently open to facilitate the passage of the wounded, injured, and essential humanitarian aid into Gaza. He cautioned against any selective allocation of aid to specific areas in Gaza, describing it as collaboration with the occupier's agenda and an attempt to accomplish what the occupier couldn't achieve through bombings, destruction, and psychological warfare.
Furthermore, Marouf reiterated the vital role of UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency) in fulfilling its responsibilities across all areas of the Gaza Strip and not neglecting its duty towards half of the displaced population in Gaza, including those in the Gaza and northern regions.
