The Brussels-based organization also revealed that several other journalists have been injured, and some remain missing.

In a joint statement with the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate (PJS), the IFJ strongly condemned the killings and the ongoing attacks on journalists, emphasizing the need for an immediate investigation into these tragic deaths.

The Federation is currently in the process of verifying information concerning additional journalists who may have been killed during the Gaza war. It has urged journalists to prioritize their safety, recommending the use of professional safety equipment and stressing the importance of not venturing into conflict zones without the necessary gear provided by their media organizations.

The IFJ emphasized the irreplaceable value of journalists' lives, stating, "No story is worth the life of a journalist."

Anthony Bellanger, General Secretary of the IFJ, underscored the significance of protecting media workers in conflict areas and allowing them to perform their duties without hindrance. He called upon all parties involved in the conflict to ensure the safety of journalists and media professionals.

Bellanger pointed out the global interest and concern regarding the Gaza conflict and how journalists play a vital role in helping the world understand the situation. He stressed that people worldwide can only grasp the reality of the events if journalists are allowed to do their work.

The International Federation of Journalists stands as the largest global union federation of journalists' trade unions, representing over 600,000 media workers from 187 organizations across 146 countries. The IFJ holds associate membership with UNESCO and has represented journalists at the United Nations since 1953. (ILKHA)
