Guterres emphasized the importance of adhering to international humanitarian law and safeguarding the well-being of civilians. He strongly condemned attacks on hospitals, schools, and United Nations facilities, underlining that such actions violate international law.

The zionist occupation regime imposed a complete blockade on Gaza and initiated a military campaign that led to multiple casualties among civilians, notably women, children, journalists, relief workers, and UN personnel.

Guterres called for the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages held by Hamas and for Israel to ensure the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza's population. He stressed that an urgent humanitarian ceasefire was necessary to achieve these goals.

While acknowledging the legitimate grievances of Palestinians due to 56 years of occupation, the UN Chief emphasized that these grievances should not justify acts of terrorism. He denounced collective punishment against the Palestinian people as unjustifiable.

Expressing his shock at the destruction at Gaza's Al-Ahli Hospital, Guterres underscored the urgent need for unhindered access to essential services and supplies, including food, water, and fuel.

The UN Secretary-General informed that he was in Egypt to monitor the UN's efforts to provide substantial support to Gaza's people. He highlighted the strategic importance of El-Arish Airport and the Rafah Crossing as critical lifelines for Gaza.

Guterres commended Egypt's efforts in facilitating multilateral cooperation to ease tensions and alleviate suffering in the region.

In conclusion, Guterres emphasized the necessity of achieving a permanent solution to the Palestinian issue. He agreed with the Egyptian Foreign Minister that establishing an independent Palestinian state, following international resolutions and previous agreements between Palestinians and Israelis, is essential for a lasting solution.
