Mehmet Ali Aysu, a member of the Orphans Foundation Advisory Board, along with a delegation, visited the Coordination Center in Kabul to gather information about the aftermath of the earthquakes and the urgent needs of the affected population.

The delegation, having traveled from Kabul to the most affected villages in Zindejan, found people living in makeshift tents on the streets due to the fear of continuous tremors. The delegation observed firsthand the dire situation and destruction caused by the earthquakes.

Coordination officials informed the Orphans Foundation that 23 villages have been completely devastated, with about 30,000 mudbrick houses destroyed, resulting in 2,500 fatalities and 5,000 injuries.

The Foundation reported that severe storms compounded the crisis, causing tents set up for earthquake victims to collapse, resulting in injuries to both children and aid workers. Continuous tremors further heightened the distress of the affected population, who expressed fear even within the temporary shelters.

Mehmet Ali Aysu, addressing the urgent situation, stated: "We need containers urgently. Tents are not holding up against the storms. We witnessed that all the tents were blown away. People are in extreme distress."

Abdulvahap Kaplan, a volunteer for the foundation, highlighted the urgent need for containers, saying: "There is literally no stone left on stone. There are dozens of deaths here. There is no need for food here, only a need for the containers we are sitting in right now, a need for houses."

The Orphans Foundation called on philanthropists and the international community to provide immediate aid, emphasizing the critical need for containers to shelter the affected families and offering a plea for assistance to help rebuild the shattered communities in Herat province, Afghanistan.
