Erdogan called for a just resolution, asserting that lasting peace in the region hinges on resolving the Palestine-Israel conflict.

Erdogan expressed his satisfaction at participating in the ceremony and extended congratulations to those involved in the church's opening, emphasizing Istanbul's status as a symbol of tolerance and peace.

Highlighting Türkiye's historical legacy of accommodating diverse cultures and faiths peacefully, Erdogan stated: "Our civilization pays no regard to the identity of the oppressed or the oppressor. It is our duty to stand up to the oppressor and to stand with the oppressed, regardless of their name, faith, or allegiance."

Addressing recent Middle East developments, Erdogan underscored the centrality of the Palestinian issue to regional problems, stressing the need for a two-state solution. He emphasized the urgent requirement for the establishment of an independent State of Palestine within the 1967 borders, with al-Quds as its capital.

Expressing concern about attempts to divide al-Quds and harassments targeting al-Haram al-Sharif, Erdogan affirmed Türkiye's commitment to speaking out for justice, even when the world remains silent.

Erdogan concluded by expressing Türkiye's solidarity with the Palestinian people and dedication to diplomatic efforts for regional calm and peace. He urged influential actors to sincerely contribute to these peace-building endeavors, putting the focus on the pressing need for a resolution of the Palestinian issue. (ILKHA)
