Three powerful earthquakes hit Afghanistan in 30 minutes
Three earthquakes with magnitudes of 6.2, 6.1, and 5.9 struck the western part of Afghanistan within half an hour on Saturday, according to the National Centre for Seismology.
The epicenter of the seismic activity was identified as 40 kilometers northwest of the city of Herat.
No reports of injuries or damage to property have been reported so far.
The first earthquake, with a magnitude of 6.1, struck at 12:11 pm, followed by a 5.6 magnitude earthquake at 12:19 pm, and a 6.2 magnitude earthquake at 12:42 pm.
Afghanistan is located in a seismically active region, and earthquakes are common in the country. In 2015, a magnitude 7.5 earthquake struck Afghanistan, killing over 300 people and injuring thousands more. (ILKHA)
